Santa Cruz and Aldo’s

I needed an excuse to get away and wanted to go down to Santa Cruz.  It was already late in the afternoon so instead of doing a beach day we went down to have an early dinner at Aldo’s Harbor Restaurant.  I always wanted to try out this seafood restaurant mainly because of the outdoor seating right on the Santa Cruz harbor.

My friend and I decided to split the Combo Platter which included calamari, coconut shrimp, oysters and fish all of which were FRIED!  I really just wanted the calamari.  It also came with our choice of 2 sides so we went with french fries and steamed veggies.  Awesomeness!  When they brought out the dish they pre-split it so that each of us had our own plate and dipping sauces.  Interestingly one of the dipping sauces was a sweet chili sauce very similar to a bottle of sweet and sour eggroll sauce that I have.  I dipped practically all of my pieces of seafood in that sauce.  The other sauces were your standard cocktail and tartar sauces.

Sitting out on the patio we had a great view of the harbor and lighthouse.  It was a great way to spend the afternoon.
